About Northpoint Concrete & Flatwork

Northpoint Concrete & Flatwork is a concrete contractor working out of Waukegan, covering Lake County, Illinois and Kenosha County, Wisconsin. We pour driveways, patios, sidewalks, garage slabs, steps and stamped work, and we handle the tear-out and haul-off that comes before it.

Doing both is the point. Most concrete crews sub out demolition and most demolition outfits do not pour. When those are two companies, the gap between them is where the schedule slips and where damage gets argued about. One crew means nobody to blame but us.

The work we get called to fix is always the same short list. A slab poured on clay with no compacted base. A patio pitched toward the house. Control joints cut a day late. A surface troweled while bleed water was still sitting on it. None of it is exotic. It is what happens when a crew is trying to finish three driveways in a week.

We do it in the order it has to be done: excavate past the disturbed material, bring in graded stone, compact in lifts, form to the drainage slope, set steel on chairs, pour air-entrained mix, wait for the bleed water, finish, and cut joints inside the same-day window. It takes longer. It is why the slab is still flat in twenty years.

Estimates are free and we come out and look. If a repair will do instead of a replacement, we will say so.

What we do

• Concrete driveways — New driveways, tear-out and replacement, poured on a compacted base built for Lake County freeze-thaw.
• Concrete patios — Broom, exposed aggregate and troweled patios, pitched away from the house so water never sits against the foundation.
• Stamped concrete — Pattern and integral color for the look of stone, slate or brick in a single monolithic pour.
• Sidewalks & walkways — Village-spec public walk and private paths, with ADA slopes where they apply.
• Garage slabs & aprons — Garage floors, pads for new builds, and the apron transition between the slab and the drive.
• Steps & stoops — Front stoops, back steps and landings, formed and poured to code rise and run.
• Concrete repair — Lifting, section replacement and resurfacing, when a full tear-out is not what the slab actually needs.
• Concrete removal — Tear-out and haul-off for driveways, walks, patios, slabs and pads, with the site left clean.
